The Tastiest Salmon

Ever since I took a nutrition class in college and learned all the health benefits of salmon, I've been a big fan of this lovely fish. I tend to cook it a lot, but I don't have a go-to recipe that I love. I typically sprinkle some salt and pepper on the fish, then throw it on my George Foreman, which tastes okay, but not great. While I'm not great at planning my meals in advance, I've recently learned how easy and DELICIOUS meals can be if you marinade them in advance. It really does soak in the flavor for maximum taste. This fish is no exception. The marinade is so simple, you probably have all the ingredients in your fridge. And with a little planning, you'll be eating a delicious, stress-free meal in no 2-24 hours time. Bon Appetit!

The Tastiest Salmon
Yield: 1.5 pounds cooked salmon
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Marinade Time: 2 hours (or longer!)
Cook Time: about 15 minutes
Total Time: about 2 hours, 30 minutes

1 1/2 pounds salmon fillets
Lemon pepper to taste
Garlic powder to taste
Salt to taste
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Season salmon fillets with lemon pepper, garlic powder, and salt. In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and vegetable oil until sugar is dissolved. Place fish in a large resealable plastic bag with the soy sauce mixture, seal, and turn to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 24 hours.

Preheat grill to medium heat.

Lightly oil grill grate. Place salmon on the preheated grill and discard marinade. Cook salmon for 5-8 minutes per side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
