I recently finished the book "Into Thin Air" and watched the documentary "Everest". Both tell the harrowing tale of one of the most disastrous seasons on Mt. Everest. While the risk of climbing Everest freaks me out, I would love to visit Kathmandu someday, the closest big city to the monstrous mountain. From what I hear, Kathmandu is an exhilarating city with enough sights, sounds, and smells to induce sensory overload. The colorful, ancient, artistic, religious city still seems relatively untouched from major tourist groups--it seems like a place you can truly discover unknown experiences and adventures.
