Wanderlust: Istanbul

The country of Turkey has always intrigued me. I remember being a kid listening to my grandparents talk about Turkey (they lived there when they were first married) and I was so confused. "Turkey isn't a country, it's a meat!", I thought. As I've learned more about this once-ancient, now-modern country, I've discovered how truly unique it is in the world. While it has an ancient cultural heritage, it has integrated with the West quite successfully. Not quite Europe, yet not quite Asia, its culture is a very unique one, or at least I imagine it is. Have you ever been to Turkey? What is it like?

Fantastic photos. I went to Turkey a few years ago and absolutely loved it. The culture is incredible, the architecture beautiful and the heavy scent of spices in the air at the local markets. If you get a chance to go take it!

It is an amazing and wonderful place. I really liked Istanbul, have been there a couple of times for vacation and business. There is so much to see and do - it is great! Turkey is generally a beautiful country with friendly people and great food. You should stay away from the big resorts town though.... You should go!!
