With the Super Bowl coming up, I figured now would be a perfect time to post my go-to guacamole recipe. I've tried making this tasty Mexican dip several different ways and finally settled on a recipe (and method!) that I love. Is it a coincidence that it is possibly the most simple guac recipe out there? I think not. Remember this quote?
Yield: about 1 cup
Prep Time: 5 minutes
1 ripe avocado
salt & pepper
Cut avocado in half and take out the pit. Slice each side into about 12 parts and use a spoon to scoop out the fruit from the skin. Discard skin and pit. Place the avocado on a hard, flat surface. (I recommend using a wooden cutting board.)
Sprinkle avocado with fresh sea salt and cracked black pepper and pour lime juice over the top. Using a potato masher, smash the avocado until you reach your desired consistency (I like mine fairly chunky!). Use a spoon or a spatula to scoop guacamole off the board and into a bowl. Serve with chips and enjoy!
P.S. Are you thrown off about my lack of quantities for the lime juice and salt & pepper? Too bad! Go ahead and make this and be your own master. I find that I enjoy cooking much more when I'm not forced to follow a recipe exactly. Hopefully you will too.
